Let’s get the introductions out of the way!

Oct. 20, 2017

Introductions can be a little awkward, right? So, let’s just get this out of the way. My name is Amanda, also known as wife, mom, nurse, runner, travel agent, blogger, and adventurer.

My husband, Brandon, and I were high school sweethearts and married in December 2004. In 2006, we welcomed our first bundle of joy, Hunter. This boy…oh my! He is such a momma’s boy. He loves to run with me and has a travel bucket list as long as mine. Caleb came along in 2010 and livened up life a good bit. I wish I had just a small ounce of the energy he does from sun up to sun down. He is such a loving little guy. He makes sure that we never go more than a few hours without hearing that he loves us and getting a warm hug. If everyone had the loving spirit that he does, the world would be a much better place.  Finally, our family of five was complete when Draegan was born in 2014. He’s our big guy…my biggest baby at birth, the tallest of all the boys at this age, and likely has more spunk than the rest of us put together.

Our family also consist of three fur babies…Rain (Boxer Mix), Zeus (German Shepherd), and Skye (Great Dane). These four-legged children of mine have no idea that they aren’t human. We spoil them rotten and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

When I’m not being wife and mom, I’m being the NICU nurse or travel agent. I love my tiny patients as if they were my own kids. Many of their parents have also become friends and I am so grateful for the opportunity to watch these incredibly strong babies grow to be someone even more amazing. A few years ago, I cut my hours at the hospital to homeschool my Caleb, so I decided to take my love of destinations and adventure to the next level and became a travel agent. As a travel agent, I work from home with an agency owned by a dear friend of mine. Watching my guests’ adventures unfold is just as exciting as watching my own adventures unfold. Everyone deserves to experience wanderlust!

So, I guess that just leaves the runner, blogger, and adventurer part of my life. I love to run!! I fell in love with running in middle school, but gave it up after injuring my knee playing basketball. During my last year of nursing school, I decided to give running another try. I needed some stress relief and running did just that. Now I serve as Chapter Leader for our local Moms Run This Town/She Runs This Town group. I’m currently training for my next Half Marathon in January 2018. At the same time, I’m a member of “I RUN 4 SIBLINGS,” a group supporting and celebrating the Unsung Heroes (siblings) of those with disabilities. In my case, I also run for the oldest sibling, whose runner was unable to continue on with the program. The kiddos, in addition to my own, give me the support and motivation that I need to keep going every day. #IR4JaydinKylaLeevyMatty

Well, I think that’s it. I’m sure you’ll learn a lot more about me as time goes on, but for now, you get the not-so-brief overview of my everyday life! It’s non-stop crazy and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

See ya real soon!

Amanda
